I wonder what those screws are anchored to?

Needless to say, this didn’t buff out.

Guessing that’s an older Focus, so I’m not judging here ...

I don’t know who would step back from the foam job and decide “yep, that looks good - time for paint”. I mean, they went through with it totally to the end, when it was obvious from the beginning it wasn’t going to work.

As the proud owner of a 2005 rental spec Focus, I still can...this appears to be a lot of effort to only get it marginally better looking than the garfed up mess that was there from whatever happened.

If something like this happened to my car, I’d either leave it or sell the car...actually, might well donate it to charity.

Although, I suppose I could make allowances for someone who really wants to keep their car looking nice, and is extremely short on money, but long on time.

In general, though...just....no.

Here is an old Neon around here that has explaining foam holding in the entire driver’s side tailight. The rear quarter was smashed in so they just put the tailight in place and sprayed. It also looks like you can no longer open the trunk.

Older Focus aka heaping pile of rust.

Confession time: I used this stuff for body work once. I wanted to delete the antenna on my 91 Civic, so I took out the antenna. Filled the hole with this stuff, the three a few layers of bondo over it. It actually held up pretty well. Lasted about two years before you could see it had begun to collapse.

hey, shit happens. The one time I used bondo to patch a small rust hole was a disaster. My car looked like it had a bloody wound until I could finally get it sanded enough to paint.

It’s perfect! But if I were going to all that trouble, I’d have stuck something to the outside before I painted it.

As for the screws, I’m pretty sure he has something behind there to hold the crack together.
